Who we are

SpeakUp is made by BringUp Education, Bangalore, Karnataka, India ("we", "us"). This policy covers the SpeakUp app for Windows and Android, the website at speakupai.bringupedu.com, and the Institute Portal used by schools and colleges.

What we collect

InformationWhy we need it
Account details — your name, email address, an optional phone number, and your password (stored in a form we cannot read). Institute accounts also have a Login ID; for school students the email is optional. To create your account and sign you in.
Practice results — scores, progress for each module, and when you practised. To show your progress on all your devices and, for institute accounts, to your teachers.
Device and sign-in information — a device identifier, the app edition and version, and sign-in times. To allow one computer and one phone per account, keep accounts secure and provide updates.
Plan and payment records — the plan you bought, the amount, the date and the Razorpay order and payment references. To give you access to what you paid for and to keep accounting records.
Messages you send us — support requests from the app and messages from our contact form, including any contact details you add.To reply to you and fix problems.

We do not receive your card, UPI or bank details. Payments are processed by Razorpay.

What stays on your device

SpeakUp analyses your speech on your own computer or phone. Your voice recordings are not uploaded to our servers. In Mock Interview, the camera is used on your device to measure eye contact, stability and posture; the video is not uploaded, and SpeakUp does not perform face recognition or emotion detection.

The app needs microphone access to analyse your speech and, for Mock Interview, camera access. You can turn these permissions off in your device settings at any time; the modules that need them will then not work.

How we use information

  • To provide SpeakUp: sign-in, practice results, progress sync and your plan.
  • To keep SpeakUp secure, including enforcing the device limit and preventing misuse.
  • To support you when you contact us.
  • To improve SpeakUp using overall usage information, such as how many practice sessions take place.
  • To meet legal, tax and accounting requirements.

We do not sell personal information and we do not show advertising in SpeakUp.

Schools and colleges

When a school or college buys SpeakUp for its students, its institute admin adds the faculty and students (their names, and email addresses where given) and SpeakUp creates their logins. For these accounts:

  • The institute admin can see the practice results of all the institute's students; a Class Incharge can see the results of students in their own classes.
  • The institute decides who receives a login and is responsible for informing its students (and, where needed, their parents) about how SpeakUp is used.
  • We process these accounts to provide the service to the institute.

Children

Many SpeakUp users are school students. Accounts for school students are normally created by their school. If a person under 18 creates their own account, a parent or guardian should agree to it and supervise its use. If you believe we hold information about a child without appropriate consent, contact us and we will delete it.

Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers that help us run SpeakUp, and only for that purpose:

  • Google Firebase Authentication — email sign-in.
  • Razorpay — payment processing.
  • Our hosting provider — to run our servers and this website.
  • Google Fonts — this website loads its typeface from Google.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep information

We keep your account information and practice results while your account exists, so your progress is there when you come back. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your personal information, except records we must keep for legal or accounting reasons, such as payment records.

Security

The app and website communicate with our servers over encrypted HTTPS connections. Access to account data is limited to people who need it to run SpeakUp. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will act promptly if something goes wrong.

Your rights

You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete your account. You can also withdraw consent you have given us. These rights come from applicable law, including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. To make a request, email info@bringupedu.com from the email address on your account, or with your Login ID. Institute students can also ask their institute admin.

Cookies and browser storage

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. The Institute Portal uses a cookie to keep you signed in. Your browser may also store small preferences for this website.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will also tell you in the app or by email.
